About The Junior Red Cross

The Red Cross came into being at the initiative of a man named Henry Dunant (born in Geneva on 8 May 1828) who helped wounded soldiers at the battle of Solferino in 1859 .

The Junior Red Cross was established in 1922 in the hope of encouraging younger generations to cultivate their humanitarian spirit by understanding the Red Cross principles and ideas, and by participating actively in the Movement. JRC Motto - "I SERVE”. “I pledge myself to care for my own health and that of others, to help the sick and suffering, especially children and to look of all other children all over the world as my friends.” JRC activities are formulated based on its Principles of Health, Services and Friendship.

JRC organization was started at St. John De Britto's Anglo Indian High School, Fort Kochi in the year 1999. The JRC cadets are included in three levels: A-Level (8th Std students), B-Level (9th Std students) and C Level (10th Std students). During this period from 1999 to 2022, around 460 students have become the beneficiaries of this organization. This year (2022) also fifteen students are preparing for the C Level Examination.
